About Me:
Rapid, syncopated delivery and intriguing, socially conscious lyrics make Lyrical Militant a Canadian Hip Hop artist like no other. Fiery drumlines and hypnotizing melodies make him a Producer to be taken just as seriously.
With socially conscious, rhythmic poetry over eclectic beats the 25-year-old producer, emcee and songwriter brings together modern electro-soul and jazz vibes and lightly fuses them with South Asian style. His current 15-track release, “Download this Mixtape,” is available for free on his website www.LyricalMilitant.com. Heavily influenced by West Coast Hip-Hop the artist stays true to the culture’s East Coast beginnings. Also a Spoken Word artist, Militant describes his musical storytelling as “Hip-Hop for the Soul.” Militant has produced for and shared the stage with many Winnipeg acts including Flo Soul, and rappers D-Grimes and Swigfu. He performed alongside Abstract Artform at the Randy River Final Cut and Shure Band on the Run competitions and was a regular performer at VIBE Nightclub. Militant is set to open up for Jurassic 5 rapper Akil the MC in June 2009 at Room 720. Originally from Thompson, Manitoba, Militant was once an on-air host for CHTM Radio and was also exposed to a wide variety of music growing up. Trained at a young age in classical percussion and jazz drumming, Militant quickly picked up keyboard skills and wrote his first song at the age of 11. He became a DJ at 17 and a producer at 19. He released his first solo EP/mixtape in 2008 and is currently working on his debut album set for release in 2009
